Dark Chocolate Granola
~Breakfast, snack, or a treat – you decide~
I demolished the whole ajr in a matter of days! This recipe is quick, easy, and unbelievably delicious. It doesn’t take much time at all, and it’s a much better option than store-bought granola, which is often packed with refined sugar and additives. Yes, it’s high in calories, but sometimes we all need a little treat for the soul.

The Recipe
Ingredients
- 100g Rolled oats
- 100g Hazelnuts
- 100g Walnuts
- 100g Almonds
- 50g Seeds – flaxseed, pumpkin, sunflower
- 30g Coconut sugar
- 20g Maple syrup
- 10g Avocado oil
- 100g Dark chocolate (85%)
Instructions
- In a deep bowl, mix all the ingredients together.
- Transfer the mixture onto a baking tray, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, chop the dark chocolate into small pieces (chocolate chips can also be used).
- Once the granola is ready, remove it from the oven and add half of the chopped chocolate to it. Mix well to melt and distribute evenly over the nuts.
- Then, allow it to cool completely and add the remaining chocolate pieces.
- Serve with yogurt, cow milk or plant-based milk, smoothies, or eat it straight out of the jar with a spoon… like everyone does.
Note: Pure maple syrup can be used instead of coconut blossome sugar if desired. Fresh homemade granola can last for up to four weeks. It offers a convenient solution for busy mornings or anytime snacking. Preserve its quality by letting it cool completely before storing. Packing it while it’s warm leads to condensation and, consequently, unnecessary moisture.
Info: Why not honey as a sweetener? Heating honey at high temperatures is not advisable because it can lead to the potential loss of its beneficial enzymes and vitamins. Also there are some controversial theories that honey turns cancerogenic once heated, but that’s not proven yet. That’s why maple syrup is preferred.
Serving Suggestions
- Sprinkle over plain, Greek, or plant-based yogurt for a creamy, crunchy breakfast.
- Use as a crunchy topping.
- Eat straight from the jar for a convenient, on-the-go snack – just like me.
- Use over ice cream, fruit bowls, or chia pudding.
Swaps & Variations
- Nuts: Swap hazelnuts, walnuts, or almonds for pecans, cashews.
- Seeds: Use chia, sunflower, pumpkin, or hemp seeds instead of the mix listed.
- Sweetener: Pure maple syrup can replace coconut blossom sugar.
- Oil: Avocado oil can be swapped with coconut oil.
