Shredded Chicken Recipe
Ingredients
- 600-700 g chicken breasts
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 200 g tomato sauce
- 100 g water
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together the garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, tomato sauce, and water to create a flavorful sauce.
- Place the chicken breasts in the bowl and coat them evenly with the sauce mixture. Cover the bowl with foil and marinate for 1.5–2 hours.
- Transfer the chicken and sauce to a baking dish. Cover the dish with thin foil and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 1.5–2 hours, or until the chicken is tender and easily shredded.
- Remove the chicken from the oven and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded chicken to the dish and mix with the remaining sauce.
- Place the dish back in the oven and cook for an additional 20 minutes at a lower temperature to let the flavors meld.
- Serve hot. Enjoy in sandwiches, burgers, tacos, or as a main dish.
Swaps
- Use chicken thighs for more juiciness.
- Tomato sauce – passata, crushed tomatoes, or even a mild enchilada sauce for variation.
- Use regular paprika, chili powder, or cumin for a different flavor profile.
- Use chicken broth for added depth of flavor, instead of water.
