Nutty Tahini with Biscuit Flavor

If you love creamy spreads and biscuits, this one’s for you! You know I’m a big fan of homemade versions-they’re cheaper, way more healthy – making it at home gives you full control over the ingredients, so you can enjoy every spoonful guilt-free.
Why You’ll Love It
- Ideal for breakfast or snacks recipes, or straight out of the spoon.
- No refined sugar, just a touch of honey and coconut sugar.
- Use as a spread, in desserts, or stirred into yogurt.
- Keeps up to 6 months in the fridge.
- Better than store-bought nut butter… and definitely cheaper.
The Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup almonds or hazelnuts (or a mix of both)
- 1 cup sunflower seeds
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tbsp coconut sugar
- ½ tsp ginger
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- 3 tbsp honey
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F).
- Roast the almonds and/or hazelnuts in the oven, then allow them to cool completely.
- Once cooled, add the sunflower seeds to the nuts and blend them together until roughly combined.
- Add the cinnamon, ginger, coconut sugar, nutmeg, and honey. Blend again until smooth and creamy.
- Transfer the nutty tahini to a jar and store it in the fridge. It will keep for up to 6 months.
Tips: Always roast the nuts for extra flavor and let them cool completely before blending. Blend inbatches if needed for a smooth texture, and adjust the sweetness to taste. Add a teaspoon of neutral oil if it’s too thick, or tweak the spices with cardamom or chili for a fun twist. Store in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 6 months.
Serving Suggestions
- Spread on toast or rice cakes with some fruit like peach, banana or strrawberries.
- Swirl into oatmeal or smoothie bowls for extra flavor – my favoriute.
- Use as a base for energy balls or healthy desserts.
- Stir into yogurt.
Swaps
- Nuts: use cashews or pecans instead of almonds/hazelnuts.
- Sweetener: replace honey with maple syrup or agave for a vegan version.
- Spices: add cardamom or allspice for a different flavor twist.
