Golden Glow Smoothie Bowl
Why “Golden Glow”?
Two reasons. First, the color: frozen peach and ripe banana blend into a soft, honey-gold base that looks like sunrise in a bowl. Second, the way it makes you feel. Fruit, protein from the yogurt and fiber from the oats and chia give you steady energy without a mid-morning crash, so you start the day feeling bright.
Creamy and fruity
Using frozen fruit gives the smoothie its thick, ice-cream-like texture without needing ice. The combination of fruit, yogurt, and granola also brings together carbohydrates, protein, and fibre for a more balanced breakfast.
A word on homemade granola
Shop-bought granola is often very sugary. Homemade is easy: toss rolled oats with a drizzle of maple syrup, a spoonful of oil, a pinch of salt and a handful of seeds or nuts, then bake at 160°C (320°F) for 20-25 minutes, stirring once. Let it cool completely and it turns crunchy. It keeps in a jar for about two weeks, so make a batch on Sunday and you’re set. You control the sweetness, and the whole kitchen smells wonderful.
The white chocolate touch
You don’t need it. But a little square of white chocolate, shaved or crumbled over the top, adds a creamy, buttery sweetness that makes this feel like dessert at breakfast. A bowl full of fruit can still have a small treat.

A Few Tips for the Perfect Smoothie Bowl
- Use frozen fruit: This is the secret to a thick, spoonable texture. If your toppings sit pretty on the surface instead of sinking into the smoothie, you did good, haha! 😉
- Start with less oat milk: You can always add more, but too much liquid can make your bowl runny.
- Keep your granola crunchy: Add it just before serving so it doesn’t soften in the smoothie.
- Customise your sweetness: The ripe banana and peach already add natural sweetness, so adjust the maple syrup to taste.

The Recipe
Prep time: 10 minutes | Servings: 1
Ingredients:
- ½ peach
- ½ banana
- ½ cup oat milk (or almond milk)
- ½ cup plain yogurt (coconut yogurt works)
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
For decoration
- ½ banana
- ½ peach
- 2 tbsp homemade granola
- 1 tsp coconut flakes
- 1 block white chocolate (for indulgent)
- sprinkle chia seeds
Instructions
- If your peach and banana aren’t frozen yet, slice them and freeze for at least 2-3 hours, ideally overnight. Keep a few spare slices of fresh banana and peach for the topping.
- Add the frozen peach, frozen banana, oatmilk, yogurt and maple syrup to a blender. Blend on low, then high, for 45-60 seconds until thick and smooth.
- It should be thick enough to hold a spoon upright. If it’s too thick, add a splash of oatmilk and blend again. If it’s too thin, add another piece of frozen banana.
- Spoon the smoothie into your favorite bowl and smooth the top with the back of a spoon.
- Arrange the fresh banana and peach slices, then scatter on the granola and coconut flakes.
- Shave or add a block of white chocolate over the top and finish with a sprinkle of chia seeds.
- Smoothie bowls melt quickly, so enjoy it while it’s thick and the granola is crunchy.
